Bluewater sportfishing charters are fully guided by the Lodge’s expert fishing guides who skipper the lodge’s custom-built boats. The lodge welcomes all anglers; even the most novice angler will soon be hooked up in our fish rich waters.
Your fishing days will commence with a hearty cooked or continental breakfast each morning after which you will meet your highly-experienced, professional fishing guide at the Coral Bay boat landing. After being welcomed on board, your guide will explain all the boat’s operational and safety features. Your picnic lunch, snacks and soft drinks will be stowed in the on-board ice box along with an insulated jug containing ice-cold water to ensure you stay well hydrated throughout the day. Your fishing day may include such fishing activities as trolling lures for Spanish mackerel, casting surface poppers for queenfish or trevally, jigging soft plastics over reef structure for tasty reef species or cranking metal baitfish slugs through schools of boiling longtail tuna.
Late afternoon will see you return to the lodge boat landing to disembark with the days catch. Relax and enjoy an icy cold beverage from the lodge bar along with some tasty canapes and bar snacks before freshening up for dinner that evening.
Offshore Charters
Seven Spirit Bay sits at the pinnacle of bluewater sportfishing Lodges in the NT. It boasts the finest waterfront accommodation and facilities, not to mention the fantastic fishing opportunities that lie only minutes away from the mooring. A wonderful array of hard-fighting pelagic sportfish are available in our waters such as, Spanish mackerel, giant trevally, queenfish, longtail tuna, cobia, giant herring, broad-bar mackerel, barracuda and golden trevally, to name a few. Jigging over reef structure will produce highly-sought-after reef species such as coral trout, golden snapper, black jewfish, bluebone and estuary cod.
Quality Shimano tackle is available (both overhead and spin outfits) on board each boat for use by lodge guests (on a replace if lost or damaged basis); alternately, you may wish to bring your own tackle.
If you wish to bring an outfit for inshore bluewater use, a 3-piece, saltwater-rated 6-12kg spin rod matched to a 6000-8000 size spinning reel with 15kg braid line will cover a lot of bases. NB. Multi-piece travel rods are recommended; please also observe luggage limits on charter aircraft.
Fishing Boats
The Lodge has small fleet of purpose-built, ultra-stable sportfishing boats that have been customised to withstand the rigours of fishing our remote region. All boats meet government survey requirements. Vessels include two bullet-proof 7.6 metre Eliminator sportfishers: the MV Coburg and the MV Victoria. These hulls are constructed of heavy-duty plate aluminium, each of which is powered by twin Suzuki 175hp 4-stroke engines ensuring the utmost ruggedness, reliability and, with a 2.8m beam, extreme stability as a fishing platform. These hulls feature a centre console configuration, with a huge raised foredeck casting platform. Each Eliminator is surveyed for up to 6 anglers on board but most commonly has a maximum of 4, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable fishing experience. A 6.2m custom GS Marine surveyed for 4 anglers and another 6.1m Eliminator surveyed for 3 are also part of the fleet used for bluewater fishing. All the lodge boats are fitted with the latest Lowrance fish finders, GPS, safety and marine communication equipment.
